The short version: We only collect what you choose to send us, mostly through our contact form. We don't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels, we don't run analytics that follow you around the web, and we never sell your personal information.
Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Birrieria Tijuana ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you visit birrieriatijuana.org (the "Site"). It covers the Site only. It does not cover orders placed through third-party delivery apps or visits to our restaurants, except where described below.
Information we collect
Information you give us
When you use our contact form, we collect the details you enter: your name, email address and/or phone number, preferred location, and your message. Please don't include sensitive information such as payment card numbers, health details, or government ID numbers in the message.
If you call us for catering or other requests, we collect the details you share on the phone, such as your name, contact information, and event details.
Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically receives basic technical information when your browser loads a page, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages requested, and the date and time. This is used to deliver the Site, keep it secure, and troubleshoot problems.
Location searches
When you search our location finder, the search runs in your browser. If what you type doesn't match one of our locations, the ZIP code or city name you entered is sent to a free public lookup service (Zippopotam.us) so we can show you the nearest restaurant. We don't ask for your device's GPS location, and we don't store your searches.
Settings saved on your device
If you use the accessibility menu, your display preferences (such as text size or high contrast) are saved in your own browser's storage so they stay on as you move between pages. This information stays on your device; it is never sent to us.
How we use it
- To answer your questions, feedback, and catering requests, and route them to the right location
- To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site
- To prevent spam and abuse of our forms
- To comply with the law and protect our rights, guests, and team members
We don't use your contact form details to send marketing messages unless you ask us to.
When it's shared
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share it only in these limited cases:
- Service providers who help us run the Site, such as our website host (Netlify, which also receives and stores contact form submissions for us) and Google Fonts, which delivers the typefaces on our pages and receives your IP address when it does so. They may use the information only to provide their services.
- Our locations, so the right restaurant or catering team can follow up with you.
- Legal reasons, if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect someone's safety or our legal rights.
- Business transfers, if all or part of our business is sold or reorganized, in which case this policy continues to apply to the information transferred.
Cookies and similar tools
The Site doesn't set advertising or analytics cookies, and it doesn't use tracking pixels or cross-site tracking. The only thing stored in your browser is your accessibility menu preference, described above. You can clear it at any time by choosing "Reset all" in the menu or clearing your browser's site data.
Because we don't track you across websites, there's nothing for a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal to turn off, but we respect them all the same.
Ordering and other sites
Our "Order Online" buttons take you to DoorDash, Grubhub, and Uber Eats. Directions open in Google Maps, and our social links go to Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. When you use those services, their own privacy policies and terms apply, and they, not us, handle your account, payment, and delivery information. We encourage you to review their policies.
How long we keep it
We keep contact form messages only as long as needed to respond and handle any follow-up, and then delete them within a reasonable period, generally no longer than two years, unless we need to keep them longer for legal, tax, or dispute-resolution reasons. Technical server logs are kept by our host for a limited time under its own retention practices.
Your choices and rights
You can always choose not to give us information; you can still browse the Site and call any location directly.
You may ask us to tell you what personal information we have about you, correct it, or delete it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your state's privacy law. We'll honor these requests regardless of where you live, as long as we can reasonably verify who you are. To make a request, use our contact form and start your message with "Privacy request". We won't treat you differently for exercising your rights.
Children's privacy
The Site is meant for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The Site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and we limit access to form submissions to the people who need them to respond. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Site or the law changes. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we'll make it clear on the Site.
